Brandon Tipton leveled the scale at 800 even with games of 248, 278 and 274 to record what is believed to be his 10th career 800 series.
Brandon was bowling in the Suburban league when he reeled off this set that is his first career 800 at the Fort Sill’s Twin Oaks Bowling Center.
On the same night, at Thunderbird Lanes’ TNT league, Connor Macdonald had his best night ever, Cel-ebrating his birthday with a surprise gift, the all new Magic Gem by RotoGrip, Connor put up games of 280, 244 and 266 for a career high and “oh so close” 790 for series.
And for the week’s high game recognition, Brian Taub had the front 10 in the Tuesday Night Mixed league but settled for a 289 as his final score of the night.
League Highlights
Other league highs include Joseph Langley with 726 on games of 232, 237 and 257, also from the Suburban, and Richard Jacoby on a roll on the senior league front with 709 in the Entertainers on games of 200, 246 and 263 and 700 even from the Socialites where he posted 238, 247 and 215.
Tory Morales put the Goodyear league in the news with 707 that went 268 226 and 213 and Mar-shall Miller rolled 249, 256 and 195 to lead the Golden Years group.
And finally, the only whooping and hollering going on in the Early Birds league was from Cherisse Mar-tin after picking up the 6-7-10 split.
Youth
Peyton Smith led in youth league play, scoring a 566 in the TBird Legends on games of 194, 213 and 159.
DJ Scott was the high roller in the U12 TBird HotShots with games of 111, 141 and 149 for a 401 and in the bumper MiniShots league William Mullins rolled the first 100 game of the year of 112.
No-Tap News
John Fortner was on his game, taking the No-Tap title back with an 865 handicap series that was high in last Friday’s senior Colorama at Thunderbird Lanes.
Fortner put together games of 265, 251 and 244 to make up the set that was high in the scratch event at 760.
Randy Travis placed second in the handicap portion with 838 and Gary Webster came in third with an 801.
There were not a lot of ladies in attendance last week, so only first place was paid, going to Maria Garcia for an 852.
Second in the scratch singles went to Lil Johnson for 711 and third went to Randy Travis for a 700.
Strike pot ticket winners were Maria Garcia, John Fortner, Gary Webster, Peggy Towne and Lil John-son.
Mystery Doubles winners were David Jones with Malden Smith, 539, Ken Knoff with Malden Smith with Gene Augustine III, 575 and Randy Travis with Cleo Travis, 559.
And it must have been Fortner’s day to play as he also picked up a little extra change converting the “Make That Spare” challenge.
It was a random roll of the cards that had Fortner shooting the 1-2-3-6-9. As we said, it was his day.
This event is held every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes; starting at 1PM. Bowlers must be at least 50 years old with a verifiable average to participate.
