ALTUS — A Tipton man died in a truck accident Monday morning 5 miles southeast of Altus.
Jeremy Wayne Lamar, 45, died at the scene of the wreck from head and internal trunk injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. His body was taken to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City for autopsy.
Lamar was driving a Ford F-350 pickup northbound on an asphalt Jackson County road shortly after 7:30 a.m. Monday when he went off the roadway into a culvert causing the truck to overturn 1½ times before coming to rest on its roof, Trooper Taylor Bunting reported. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pinned inside for around 2½ hours before being freed by Altus firefighters.
The wreck closed the roadway for just over four hours.
Bunting reported the driver’s condition and cause of the wreck remain under investigation.
