The last installment of Let’s Talk About It featuring “The Call of the Wild” will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Cameron University Library.
The theme for this series is “The Gilded Age,” a defining period in American history that occurred between the Civil War and the turn of the 20th century. Mark Twain’s satirical novel, “The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today,” published in the late 1800s, gave the era its namesake.
Cameron University professor Margery Kingsley will conduct the discussion. Kingsley received an A.B. in English from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in English from UCLA with a concentration in 17th- and 18th-century British literature. She began teaching literature and composition classes at Cameron in 1994 and served as the Department of English and Foreign Languages Chair from 2005-2013. She is the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and the head of Cameron’s Office of Teaching and Learning.
“The Call of the Wild”, written by Jack London and published in 1903, follows Buck throughout his journey as a sled dog amid the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s.
