GRANITE — A Sea Doo collision Wednesday afternoon at Luger Lake sent a Clinton man to the hospital, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
James M. Smith, 41, was flown to OU Medical Center where he was admitted in good condition with leg injuries.
Smith was driving his watercraft northbound on Lake Lugert at Quartz Mountain State Park shortly after 4:11 p.m. Wednesday when he slowed down and a 13-year-old girl from Clinton struck his vessel with her Sea Doo causing both the drivers to be ejected, Trooper George Hoyle reported. A passerby picked up Smith and took him to the park-side boat ramp.
The girl was uninjured.
Both drivers were wearing personal flotation devices, according to the report.
Hoyle reported the cause of the collision was the underage driver’s reckless operation of the watercraft.
