The Comanche Indian Veterans Association (CIVA) France Delegation is hosting a sweetheart of a fundraiser Friday night to assist with costs to attend the 80th D-Day Anniversary in Normandy, France.
The events are meant to allow the delegation the opportunity to honor a Comanche legacy to history, the Comanche Code Talkers who sent coded messages during the World War II Normandy invasion, according to Commander Kevin Pohawpatchoko.
The CIVA Sweetheart Dance will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Lawton Farmers Market, 77 SW 4th. There will be a live DJ, food, drawings and more.
Cost is $20 per couple and $10 for singles.
