Sunset Memorial Gardens will hold its 35th annual ceremony Saturday to honor veterans.
The cemetery’s Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Veterans Field of Honor at 8700 Cache Road.
Presentation of colors and Riderless Horse ceremony to be conducted by the Lawton Rangers. The national anthem will be performed by Madison Rother, who also will perform other patriotic songs later in the ceremony. Guest speaker will be Ken Sue Doerfel, while Tommy Youmans will conduct the official wreath laying. Taps, accompanied by the Lawton Rangers Riderless Horse, will be performed by Jeremiah Phillips. Ken Couch will open the ceremony, conduct both the invocation and benediction, and dismiss the colors.
The ceremony is drawing participation from a variety of organizations, to include Knights of Columbus #850 and #3150 (providing guard of honor), Society of Military Widows, Military Order of the Purple Heart, The Military Order of the World Wars, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1609, the Lawton Rangers / Buffalo Soldiers, Gen. McCain Chapter 56 DAV and Auxiliary, VFW Post #5263 and Auxiliary, VFW Post #1193 and Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary #193, Comanche County Veterans Council, Vietnam Veterans of America #751, Associates Supports of Vietnam Veterans of America #751, and Korean War Veterans Association #319.
