MacArthur’s Rohan Mariano picked up a pair of medals at the recent OSSAA Swim Championships while competing in 6A with all the state’s top progams including Jenks and the three Edmond schools.
The Mac junior was sixth in the 500 freestyle and he came back later to take seventh in the 200 freestyle. He turned in a time of 4:57.70 in the 500 and came back with an AA Standard time of 1:48.89 in the 200.
Mariano qualified for state with a strong regional effort, placing third in the 500 freestyle in 5:00.33 and he was fourth in the 200 in 1:50.80.
At the Southwest OK Area Championships Mariano won the 400 freestyle in 4:22.59, breaking a 25-year record by 2.5 seconds. He also won the 200 freestyle in 2:01.79, snapping that Area record by one-half second.
