ANADARKO — A second man has been arrested for the Dec. 7, 2023, shooting death of Dangelo Pollard.
Esco E. Peteet, 20, of Anadarko, made his initial appearance Monday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of first-degree murder – deliberate intent, records indicate.
Peteet is accused of working in concert with Davantae D. Winters, 23, of Anadarko, in the shooting death. Winters was charged Feb. 8 with a felony count of first-degree murder — deliberate intent, records indicate. He made his initial court appearance on March 14 and is being held on no bond.
The crime is punishable by life in prison, life with no parole or death. Due to the violence of the charge, 85 percent of a sentence would have to be served before consideration for parole.
The investigation began shortly before 10:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 2023, when Pollard was found slumped over in the driver’s seat of a car parked in the driveway of 109 Moran Drive with a bullet wound to the middle of his forehead and a handgun in his lap, the probable cause affidavit states. The window was rolled down and police found three spent shell casings outside the driver’s side door and eight more in the street. Witnesses reported hearing the gunshots and saw a dark color car driving away at a high rate of speed.
Pollard’s girlfriend told police he’d been receiving threats from Winters, who is in a relationship with the mother of Pollard’s children. She said Winters and Pollard had been in a verbal confrontation at a Chickasha bar in November 2023 and that Winters had sent a threat to Pollard on Pollard’s Dec. 3, 2023, birthday, Allen stated.
Pollard’s grandmother also reported he’d received several threats from Winters, including the birthday message that read, “I am going to kill you and those were the last birthday candles you will ever blow out,” according to the affidavit.
A Google geofence warrant was issued for the area of Pollard’s murder and a phone registered to Winters’ grandfather was in the area of the incident at the time of the murder, the affidavit states.
On Dec. 12, 2023, Allen spoke with a witness who was with Winters the night of the murder who said Winters had a handgun on Pollard’s birthday.
Winters was arrested for domestic assault and battery and was in the Caddo County Detention Center on Dec. 26, 2023, when Allen attempted to speak with him.
Several other people offered information that Winters and Peteet committed the murder. One witness said they saw Peteet hand Winters a handgun, the affidavit states.
On Feb. 2 a confidential informant said he had information about Pollard’s homicide. He said he was in the same pod as Williams and Peteet the night of the murder and that he’d heard Winters and Peteet bragging about killing Pollard, according to the affidavit. They mentioned being part of the Bloods gang and heard Peteet say they shot Pollard eight times, Allen stated.
Peteet, who had been free since Dec. 29, 2023, for a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, was arrested Friday, according to Caddo County jail records.
Also held on no bond, Peteet returns to court at 9 a.m. March 23 for his preliminary hearing conference.
