Detectives working an undercover drug buy discovered over 650 fentanyl pills and sent a Lawton woman to jail on $1 million bond.
The suspect was free on a prior $100,000 bond for fentanyl trafficking with the stipulation she wear a GPS monitor.
Lawton Police Department Special Operations Unit detectives conducting an undercover buy of fentanyl around 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22 met up with Gaylynn Lashonda Miller in the parking lot of the Maple Wood Apartments where she was to sell 50 fentanyl pills. She was detained after the sale was made and she admitted more pills would be in her home at 2811 NW Lincoln, the probable cause affidavit states.
During a search of the garage, a clear plastic baggie under a hat containing a large amount of fentanyl pills and a cellphone found in the kitchen were seized, the affidavit states. In total, detectives recovered 656 pills.
On Wednesday, Miller, 29, made her initial appearance in Comanche County District Court where she received felony charges of aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs and use of a telephone to traffic drugs, records indicate. She faces between two years to life in prison if convicted.
Miller is no stranger to the Special Operations Unit detectives. In January, detectives conducting a controlled drug buy of fentanyl arrested Gregory Pippins at Walmart, 1002 N. Sheridan. Investigators watching a home at 13 NW 29th had seen Pippins leave and drive to the transaction. Police recovered 500 pills and $1,925 in cash after arresting Pippins.
Detectives then went back to the home and made contact with Miller and told her to leave the house while awaiting a search warrant. She backed up toward the bathroom and said she needed to use it but was removed so she wouldn’t “destroy evidence,” the affidavit states.
A search of Miller’s left pocket turned up a baggie with 6.24 grams of crack cocaine, police said. In her right pocket, detectives found a baggie with 540 Roxy M30 pills and $905 in cash, according to the affidavit.
Miller made her initial appearance on felony counts of aggravated fentanyl trafficking and acquiring proceeds from a drug activity and misdemeanor counts of cocaine possession and obstructing police, records indicate.
Pippins remains jailed on $10,000 bond for counts of aggravated trafficking in fentanyl, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, obstructing police and disturbing the peace.
Miller has an August 2020 felony conviction in Comanche County for a count of feloniously pointing a firearm. She returns to court at 3 p.m. Jan. 9, 2024, for her preliminary hearing conference for the latest charges.
