Investigators said a man is in jail because he went on a rock-throwing rampage at some east Lawton businesses.
Lyrelle Dewayne Royale, 38, Lawton, made his initial appearance Thursday in Comanche County District Court where he received two felony counts of malicious injury to property over $1,000 and a misdemeanor charge of malicious injury to property under $1,000, records indicate. Each felony count is punishable by up to two years in prison.
Royale was identified through security video of busting out $15,000 worth of windows at Mike’s Sports Grille, 517 E. Gore, and $1,000 worth of windows at Salas Urban Cantina, 247 E. Gore, as well as damaging the car of an employee at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, 601 E. Gore, the morning of June 14, the probable cause affidavit states.
The employee at Cracker Barrel said Royale told police he had been knocked over the benches and trash cans outside and was banging on the restaurant windows around 6 a.m. claiming his grandfather owned the business, Lawton Police Officer Levi Peck stated. The employee’s car suffered several dents and two windows were busted out with rocks, the affidavit states.
Investigators also learned Royale was the suspect who threw rocks from the Mike’s Sports Grille flower bed into and through several windows as well as at Salas Urban Cantina.
Royale admitted to police that he was at Cracker Barrel and admitted to breaking windows, the affidavit states. Police learned he had outstanding arrest warrants for breaking and entering, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Peck stated.
Held on $5,000 bond, Royale returns to court at 3 p.m. Sept. 3 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
