Hamlin looks to back up Martinsville win with one at Darlington

The Thunderbird Mixed Doubles tournament that was held last Wednesday evening saw a full field, minus a couple of teams who opted not to weather the storm, literally speaking.

Those on hand had a good time and managed some good scores in a battle that would pay the top six places at events end.

After a two game qualifying set, the top six teams rolled one more game with the goal being to make the top three.

Finishing is sixth place was Peggy Coe and Andrew Petering with 339.

Lil Johnson and Sam Bowman finished in fifth with 400 and Leilani Wiggins and Robert Lansberry took fourth with 417.

The top three teams went into a stepladder final where Vanda Edmondson and Duane Hurwitz settled for third after losing to Brittney Williams and David Yett, 456-470.

The Williams/Yett team ended in second after facing Ashley Rhoades and DJ Pyfer who pulled out all the stops and took first place 459-368.

A special thanks to all of the participants and stay tuned as another variation of the Po-Boy event is in the works.
