Hamlin looks to back up Martinsville win with one at Darlington

Tyler Price was the bowler of the week with a super 761 series rolled the last night of the TNT league at Thunderbird Lanes.

Price started off with a 290, 11 in a row, before adding games of 235 and 236 to make up the total.

Tyler wasn’t the only Price in the news this week as congratulations goes out to his wife Amanda and her doubles partner, Dena Hicks, for taking first place in the women’s open division of the Southwest tournament that was held at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, KS over the last month or so.

Price and Hicks rolled 1533 with handicap to win the championship title, 50 pins ahead of their clos-est contender.

Adult League Highlights

Duncan McDonald followed Price on the honor roll for high series last week, posting a 738 in the Suburban league on a night when very few were able to conquer the conditions.

In fact, McDonald was the only Suburbanite to bust 700, putting games of 246, 278 and 214 together to accomplish the mission.

Close but no cigar was James Biscaino, 699, and Jim Bomboy, 696.

Mitchell Hill was another TNT bowler to walk away on a high note, posting 717 on games of 244, 246 and 227.

Patrick Caton, Tuesday Night Mixed, finished the night with 715 after games of 236, 246 and 233 and Brandon Trimpey rolled 711 after starting his set off with a 277.

And lastly, David Yett zoned in for games of 255, 234 and 224 to top the Friday Nite Mixed Rollers league with 713.

Youth Bowling

Peyton Smith topped youth for series with a 612 from the TBird Legends on games of 193, 234 and 185.

Raiden Jenkins put together the high game of 266 that was a career high and 112 pins over average.

DJ Scott rolled 147, 165 and 156 for the HotShots high series of the week of 468 and Lee Perry is accredited with the high game honors for a 179.

This duo, along with a few other local youth, took on the Youth Spring Scholarship tournament that was held at Holiday Lanes in OKC weekend before last.

In the boys handicap division, Scott brought home a third place finish for an 1159 set that earned him a $175 scholarship and Perry finished in fourth with an 1128 for a $100 scholarship.

Honorable mention goes to Maddox Swietek, who placed in fifth with an 1125 and to Ali Biscaino who finished in eighth in the Open Scratch division with a 902.

Back on the local front, TBird MiniShots had some high scoring with Emma Carter rolling 106 and 113, Knox Hill putting together a 130 and William Mullins rolled a 102.

No-Tap News

Armour Brown took first place in last Friday’s Senior No-Tap at Thunderbird Lanes with and 793 on scratch no-tap scores of 242, 276 and 206.

Randy Travis finished in second with 788 and Cleo Travis rolled a third place score of 785 for honorable mention.

Diane Frame won the women’s division with 697, beating out Margit Augustine who finished just one pin shy of a tie with 696.

Malden Smith won Scratch singles with 735, followed by Randy Travis’ 680.

Strike pot ticket winners were Sam Bowman, Roy Johnson, Bert Payton and Mike Peckinpaugh and the Mystery Doubles segment saw Sue Avis with Malden Smith winning game one with 538 and Cleo Travis with David Jones winning games two and three with 579 and 536 respectfully.

There were no winners in the Challenge Shots with the exception of David Jones who knew exactly what he needed to do to leave the 4-10 split to win the Snake Bite challenge.

Senior bowlers age 50 and over are invited to join the fun every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes starting at 1 p.m.
