If Lawton were to name a power couple on today’s bowling lanes, the title would no doubt go to Amanda and Tyler Price, who prove time and again just how tough they are. This past week was a good example, as Tyler led area bowlers with a perfect 300 game from the TNT league at Thunderbird Lanes. It has been a long dry spell for Tyler, who started off on this night with his 20th career 300 game. His last, according to USBC, was rolled in 2019. Tyler added games of 203 and 202 to make it over the hump with a 705.
Meanwhile, Amanda had quite a weekend bowling in the Oklahoma Queens tournament at The Lanes at Coffee Creek in Owasso. Details are sketchy, but when the dust cleared, Amanda was crowned the 2024 Queens champion. Ironically, it was this same tournament last year where Amanda posted her 5th perfect 300 game. Congratulations to both Amanda and Tyler on their achievements and accomplishments.
Amanda also topped the charts in local news, rolling a 695 for the ladies high series this week on games of 253, 248, and 194 in the His and Hers. The men’s high series also came from the His and Hers, where Andrew Jones put games of 257, 270, and 232 together for a 759 association high set of the week.
Matt Ray found a good line in the TNT, posting a 740 on games of 249, 234, and 257, and Troy Hardin put a 707 on the board in the His and Hers on games of 249, 215, and 243.
Twin Oaks’ Tuesday Night Mixed reported a 723 for Jason Olnes that went 228, 241, and 254, and Dwight Blair followed with games of 230, 259, and 226 for a 715.
Steve Mans was the senior bowler of the week with a 710 set from the Entertainers league, where he ran the front 10 strikes in game three for his second 289 game of the year.
Honorable mention goes to Chris Lindsey of the Early Birds league for converting the 7–10 split.
Youth Bowling
Davyn Jenkins was the youth high scorer with a 557 from the TBird Legends. Davyn was well over average with games of 184, 206 and 167 to make up the series in the U18 group.
And leading in the TBird HotShots was DJ Scott who had a 488 series on games of 186, 152 and 150.
No-Tap News
Tony Faustner took first in last Friday’s senior no-tap event at Thunderbird Lanes, posting an 857 handicap total with scratch games of 288, 287, and 207. Randy Travis, who started the day with a 300, placed second with 844, and Sam Bowman won third place honors with an 838. Diane Frame won the women’s division with a 709.
Scratch singles order of finish was Sam Bowman (805), Tony Faustner (782), and Randy Travis (733).
Mystery Doubles winners were Sam Bowman with John Roberts, 588 in game one, and Mike Peckinpaugh with Herb Scott won game two with 541 and game three with 554.
Strike pot ticket winners were Cleo Travis, Charles Norman, Diane Frame, Roy Johnson, and Tony Faustner. There were no winners in the Special Challenge shot portion of the day.
This tournament is held every Friday afternoon starting at 1 pm at Thunderbird Lanes and is open to all bowlers aged 50 and above. The entry fee is just $15 per person and includes Mystery Doubles and Special Challenge tickets. Strike pot tickets and the scratch singles event are optional.
