A Lawton woman being screened before an employment interview at the Lawton Correctional Facility is looking at up to five years in prison for bringing marijuana in with her, according to investigators.
Jazmen Carter, 25, made her initial appearance Monday in Comanche County District Court where she received a felony charge of bringing drugs into jail/penal institution, records indicate.
Carter was arrested Oct. 19 at the prison, 8607 SE Flower Mound Road. Oklahoma Department of Corrections Agent-in-Charge Chris Coker stated Carter had come into the facility for an employment interview. During customary security screening, a small bag of marijuana was found in her wallet, along with two fentanyl pills and a phone SIM card, the probable cause affidavit states.
During questioning, Carter said she didn’t have a medical marijuana license and denied having knowledge of the pills, Coker stated. She said the SIM card was probably hers and claimed her cousin had given her the wallet the day before, the affidavit states.
Carter, who is held on $20,000 bond, returns to court at 3 p.m. Feb. 27, 2024, for her preliminary hearing conference.
