Chad Perry broke the ice and posted the first Honor score of the season while bowling in the Early Birds league at Thunderbird Lanes last Monday evening.
Perry had a good line from the start with a 257 opener, but lost his way just a tad in game two, scoring a 201.
Perry said that he had to make a slight adjustment and quickly learned that this shot was money and his for the taking, knowing that he could easily strike out for a 300 game.
His instincts held true and perfect 300 game number six was in the books for Perry, totaling out at 758 for the week’s high series as icing on the cake.
Perry’s was the only 700 series of the night but Andrea Halstead put together a 656 that included the ladies high game of the week of 258.
Leading the ladies for high series was Teri Jester who put together a 675 in the senior Socialites league with scores of 236, 217 and 222.
Other highlights show Chris Dickerson topping the charts in the Suburban league at Twin Oaks with 738 on games of 249, 244 and 245, and Joseph Langley with a 711 that went 266, 237 and 208.
Richard Jacoby was the high roller in the TNT league at Thunderbird Lanes with 731 on games of 259, 223 and 249.
Mark Hill rallied in game three for a 267 to walk away with a 716 and Kellan Hill started off with a 277 to assist in a 701 for series.
Honorable mention this week goes to Kerriya Claunch for bowling her first career 600 series of 628 while bowling in the Suburban league at Twin Oaks, Fort Sill.
Bowling off a 171 average (152-book), Claunch had games of 186, 219 and 223 to make up the set. Congratulations!
Youth Bowling
The Saturday morning youth program at Thunderbird Lanes is underway with plenty of room to add youth bowlers of all ages.
Leading the first week of competition with a career high league game of 110 was Henry Keithley of the TBird MiniShots with bumper rail assist.
Riley Morris posted the best score in the TBird HotShots for the U12 division, of 408 on games of 150, 138 and 120.
And leading in the Legends for the U18 division was Ty Smith with a 623 on games of 257, 195 and 171.
No-Tap News
A large crowd and big scores were the highlight of the senior no-tap Colorama last Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes.
Thirty bowlers were on hand for an afternoon of fun and apparently, a lot of strikes.
Sam Bowman and Tony Faustner both had no-tap 300 games and Duane Hurwitz along with Rick Olson spared in frame one before stringing the next eleven strikes for 290’s.
There was a miscalculation in handicap in the men’s division and the correction will be handled before the next event but the places should have been paid as follows: Scott Brenke in first with 877, Tony Faustner in second with 857 and JP Nauman in third with 847.
Kathy Zerbe had a super day and ended up with an 835 for the first place prize in the women’s divi-sion, followed by Leilani Wiggins for a second place score of 767.
Scratch singles winners were Tony Faustner, 782, Rick Olson, 775 and Duane Hurwitz, 770.
And Mystery Doubles winners were Dave Yett with James Halstead, 582, Sam Bowman with Scott Brenke, 641 and Mike Peckinpaugh with Rick Olson, 603.
There were no challenge shot winners but JP Nauman, James Middleton, Tony Faustner, Dan Bailey, Vanda Edmondson and Armour Brown all grabbed a little strike pot cash.
This event is held every Friday afternoon starting at 1pm at Thunderbird Lanes and is open to all bow-lers age 50 and above.
Entry fee is just $15 per person and includes Mystery Doubles and Special Challenge tickets. Strike pot tickets and the scratch singles event are optional.
