Lawton police have confirmed the woman struck during a collision Wednesday afternoon died from her injuries.
Debra Pennington, 67, was killed as a result of the wreck that happened around 2:40 p.m. on Northwest 2nd Street near the intersection with Columbia Avenue, according to Lt. Charles Whittington, Lawton Police Department information officer.
Pennington, who was crossing Northwest 2nd Street in a wheelchair, was struck by a southbound van. First responders worked to provide first aid at the scene however she died at a local hospital from her injuries, Whittington said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family,” he said.
The LPD Traffic Division continues to investigate the incident.
