ANADARKO — An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a Caddo County man accused of the ongoing sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl.
The Caddo County District Court issued the felony arrest warrant for Michael Willard Covington, 51, of Anadarko, for three counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 12 and a count of sexual abuse of a child under 12, records indicate. Each count is punishable by between 25 years to life in prison.
The Caddo County Sheriff’s Department began investigating Covington after DHS heard about the allegations on Sept. 3.
During a forensic interview, the 11-year-old girl said Covington lewdly touched and sexually abused her several times since she was 10 with the last time happening about six weeks earlier, according to the warrant affidavit. When asked how sure she was it had been six weeks, she said, “… when something this traumatic happens, you don’t forget it,” Deputy Dustry Richardson stated.
Investigators have not been able to make contact with Covington. Information has been received that he has been staying with various relatives throughout the state, according to the affidavit.
