MOORE — A “Non-Cole Town Hall,” starring Cal Hobson and David Walters, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard Ave.
Organizers said the question-and-answer session will allow citizens to voice their concerns about the downsizing and loss of the National Weather Center and NOAA facility, unlawful and unexplained job cuts, threats to Medicare and Medicaid, and overreach of presidential power.
Organizers said U.S. Congressman Tom Cole, chair of the Appropriation and Budget Committee for the U.S. House of Representatives, has failed to use his position to curtail the unconstitutional actions of non-elected Elon Musk and the illegal interference in congressional budget authority by the Trump Administration.
Former Oklahoma Gov. David Walters and former Oklahoma Senate President Pro Temp Cal Hobson will address the questions in Cole’s absence. A chair will be provided for him or his official representative, the men said.
Walters and Hobson said they will discuss what ordinary citizens can do to protect governmental agencies and themselves in this uncertain time. The right of peaceful assembly in a free and open town hall is still guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States, the men said.
Numerous local groups are supporting the meeting, including Women in Action for All Norman and Lawton’s Women United in Action.
