Lawton City Hall has removed its drop box service for utility bills, but utility customers have other options, city officials said.
City officials have received complaints from residents following implementation of a new service for those paying their utility (water) bills. Dec. 5, 2024, the city opened a new drive-thru building on the west side of its west parking lot, which allows water customers to pay their bills from their vehicles. The concept is a return to the days of Wayne Gilley City Hall, which featured a drive-thru window in its utility services area for people who didn’t want to come into the building.
Lawton City Hall has had a drop box in the main driveway in front of building’s main entrance, but that box was removed with the opening of the new drive-thru building.
The drive-thru is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, which are city hall’s normal operating hours. For those who need to make payments outside of regular business hours, the city has installed a self-service kiosk that allows residents to make payments by scanning their bill or entering their account information. City officials said the kiosk supports payment by cash, check and credit cards.
