A Sapulpa man police said has a history of prior domestic abuse is in the Comanche County Detention Center for a new charge.
Delbert Oliver Shuck, 39, made his initial appearance Friday in Comanche County District Court where he received a felony charge of domestic abuse, prior pattern of physical abuse, records indicate. The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
The new charge follows an arrest warrant issued for Shuck for two misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse, assault and battery, from May 12, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputy James McCarty took a report on Oct. 11 for two separate incidents involving Shuck from Oct. 8 and 9. Photos taken of the woman showed her hair had been pulled out, and scratches and bruises over her body, the affidavit states. She applied for and received an emergency protective order on Oct. 17.
The incident occurred Oct. 9 as Shuck and his girlfriend were traveling on U.S. 277 near Interstate 44. She said he punched her in the throat, called her names and punched her in the side of the head while not letting her out of the truck when she asked, according to the affidavit. When they arrived at a destination, she said he grabbed her hair, pulled her over the console and punched her from the neck to ribs before letting her out of the vehicle. He attempted to grab her phone and got out of the truck, pushed her to the ground and tried to wrestle the phone away before backing up the truck with the door open, dragging her with it, according to a witness.
The morning before, the woman said Shuck rushed her, tried to choke her for about 10 seconds and hit her repeatedly, busting her lip from the inside, the affidavit states.
Shuck, who is held on $50,000 bond, returns to court at 3 p.m. Feb. 27 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
