The NAACP Lawton, Oklahoma, Branch 6131-B will hold its 2024 Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday at Cameron University.
“NAACP: All In” will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex, located on Cameron at 2800 W. Gore.
NAACP Branch President Will Scott said the event is a fundraiser.
“All of our local members are unpaid volunteers,” he said. “Thus, funds from this event will help us generate funds needed for mission-focused initiatives.”
The keynote speaker will be Altus Vice Mayor Roberta Brady-Lee, who is serving her second term as vice mayor and is city councilperson of Altus’ Ward III. Brady-Lee is employed by Altus Public Schools and has worked as an in-school suspension coordinator for 32 years.
The banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door, if any are remaining, Scott said. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling Delores Raphel, event coordinator, (580) 536-6913; or John Moore, (580) 248-7619.
NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization that has led the fight for civil rights, political liberty and social justice.
