Mount Scott Roadway in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge will temporarily close to vehicle traffic so damaged guardrails can be repaired.
The road will be closed from 7-11 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning Tuesday. The project is expected to be completed by Oct. 12. After 11 a.m. on scheduled workdays, vehicle traffic will be allowed to resume.
The Mount Scott Roadway will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Pedestrian and cyclist should use caution on Mt. Scott Roadway when maintenance crews are present. Refuge staff and volunteers are available at the Visitor Center located near the intersection of Oklahoma 49 and Oklahoma 115 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and can provide maps and information on other points of interest on the refuge.
Further information about the refuge is available on the official Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge website at: www.fws.gov/refuge/wichita_mountains, on the official Facebook page, or by contacting the Refuge Visitor Center at 580-429-2197.
