MEDICINE PARK — A motorcyclist is in critical condition and his passenger hospitalized following a Saturday wreck north of Medicine Park.
Michael D. Tefler was driving a Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle with Jennifer S. Bilberry as passenger westbound on Oklahoma 58 around 4:18 p.m. when a Nissan Altima driven by Nija N. Thompson failed to stop at a stop sign about 4 miles north of Medicine Park, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Zachary Johnson reported.
Tefler, 70, of Apache, was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition with head and internal trunk injuries. Bilberry, 47, of Duncan, also was flown to OU Medical where she was admitted in stable condition with leg and internal trunk injuries. According to the report, nether driver nor passenger were wearing helmets.
Thompson, 38, of Lawton, and her 6-year-old female passenger were not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 45 minutes, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Johnson cited failure to stop at the stop sign as the wreck’s cause.
