SNYDER — An Altus motorcyclist died from a single vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon in Kiowa County.
Roger D. Hendrix, 64, died at the scene of the wreck, five miles west of Snyder, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Hendrix was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on U.S. 62 shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday when he went off the roadway to the left for an unknown distance, Trooper Marek Long reported. He overcorrected and reentered the westbound lanes before losing control and going side to side before striking the side bars on the roadway. The bike continued off the left side of the roadway before coming to rest in the grass median.
The driver was not wearing a helmet, Long reported.
Hendrix’s condition and the cause of the wreck remain under investigation.
