The Lawton MisFits got a 5-1 victory over Piedmont Prime recently to claim the 10U title in the Chickasha Youth Sports World Series to cap a banner season.
The MisFits went 7-0-1 to take the title sealing the victory with a late volley that was capped by an RBI ground out by Delilah Houghtaling that drove in the final run and end the game as the time limit took effect. Averie Tims scored that final run as the club celebrated the title.
The MisFits started the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Wild, then were held to a 2-2 tie by the Warriors. But after that the MisFits beat Lady Lightning, 8-2; Southern Oklahoma Rebelz, 4-1; Piedmont Prime, 3-2, OK Storm, 7-4 and then Piedmont Prime in the 5-1 title game.
Elliana Roberson got the pitching win in the finals. Other team members were Houghtaling, Isabella Niswonger, Reagan Muro, Georgia Turner, Hayden Malave, Madelynne Niswonger, Camilla Potts, Blake Pierson, Tymrie Perkins, Rylee Roberson, Blakely Brown, and Averie Tims. Roy Tims was the head coach and Tiffany Roberson and Tye Roberson served as assistants.
The tournament included 14 teams as the summer-long series of tournaments capped the season for the CYS program.
