DUNCAN — An arrest warrant was issued for a Marlow man accused of pocketing $4,000 in cash that was intended for a shed to be built.
The Stephens County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Wednesday for Bobby Gene King, 49, for a count of embezzlement, records indicate.
Marlow police received a complaint on June 13 regarding a March incident at L&L Classic Cars, 1003 W. Oklahoma 29, in Marlow regarding King, representing Stormor portable buildings, placed some sheds for sale. King was to receive a commission and any cash sales were to be deposited into his checking account with Stormor pulling the funds from his account and then depositing the commission back into the account, the warrant affidavit states.
Police were told a woman had put a down payment of $4,000 toward a custom shed on March 3 and that King had failed to give the money to Stormor, according to Marlow Police Officer Cole Jack.
King told police he’d withheld the money due to being owed commissions from prior sales, according to the affidavit. He told police that he told the woman he would return some f the money in cash and work on her vehicle in return for the rest.
When asked to see his bank statement to see if he’d actually not been paid his commissions, King said his phone wasn’t working right and said he would later provide pictures that he claimed supported his claims, the affidavit states.
The woman told Jack that instead of a full cash refund, he’d done some work on her car that she didn’t believe was worth more than the amount she was owed.
