FREDERICK – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating a Wednesday shooting death in Frederick and a Manitou man is in jail on a gun charge.
Frederick police called in the OSBI to assist with the shooting after officers were called to a home near South 19th Street and East Dahlia Avenue just after 11 a.m. Arriving officers found Jake Zuniga, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Zuniga was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries, according to the OSBI.
Investigators at the scene interviewed Michael Lee Lorah and arrested him for possession of a firearm after former felony conviction. Other charges are pending. As of Friday, no charges had been filed against Lorah for this case.
The events leading up to the shooting are still under investigation at this time, the OSBI stated.
Lorah has prior felony convictions in Tillman County: January 2014, assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery on a police officer and obstructing police; April 2017, two counts of uttering a forged instrument, and knowingly concealing stolen property, court records indicate.
