MacArthur freshman Kade Phillips threw a five-inning no-hitter Thursday to power the Highlanders to a 14-0 victory over Riverside in the Bo Bowman Baseball Tournament.
In other first-round games, Lawton High beat Comanche, 10-5, Cache beat Eisenhower, 12-4, and Altus beat Big Pasture, 8-2.
That sets up today’s semifinals at Lawton High with the Wolverines meeting Altus at 4:30 p.m., and then a matchup of Mac and defending champion Cache around 7 p.m.
Phillips, a right-handed pitcher, fanned nine and didn’t give up a hit for the Highlanders. The offense was led by Spencer Thurman with a pair of doubles and a double from Gunner Tate.
The Bowman was still conducting consolation bracket games Thursday evening wqith Comanche and Big Pasture meeting in one consolation contest and Eisenhower trying to rebound against Riverside.
Anadarko is also on the field but is only competing in the consolation bracket and will play the Comanche-Big Pasture loser at 10 a.m. today at Lawton High.
The finals will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
