An unspecified threat to MacArthur High School sent the campus on lockdown Tuesday afternoon.
However, following a search of the campus, no threat was determined, according to Lynn Cordes, Lawton Public Schools executive director of communications.
“It’s still always scary,” she said. “We have to remain vigilant.”
Cordes said that once the threat was determined from an online tip, protocols were put into action to lock down the campus while LPS police and the Lawton Police Department were called to the campus, 4400 E. Gore, around 1 p.m.
Lawton Police Information Officer Sgt. Christopher Blessing said there was a disturbance that happened outside the school and no weapons were located.
Following a campus search inside and outside the buildings, the lockdown was released around 2:30 p.m., Cordes said.
Cordes said that no one armed was found to be within the school buildings save for campus police officers.
“There was no breach of the school,” she said.
