Just shy of exactly one year ago this week, Tim Lundquist line up in the Goodyear league at Thunderbird Lanes and registered 300 game #19 according to my records.

On Thursday, Nov. 2 at Twin Oaks Bowling Center while bowling in the Suburban league, Lundquist was probably thinking he didn’t have a prayer after starting the session with games of 223, and 168 but if anything were ever truer about bowling, one never knows what will happen and Lundquist slammed down twelve strikes in a row to post his 20th career perfect 300 game.

Earlier that same day, Marshall Miller found his was to what really should have been a perfecto but the lanes thought otherwise and kept Miller’s ball as he was prepping for his final frame.

Waiting on a ball to return, even for just a little while, can mess up a bowlers timing and Miller ended up with a high hit that left him with a 4-pin and a 299 for score.

Much like these two, we saw a lot of bowlers struggle to put a good set together. Several managed good games here and there but to post three good games in a set was a difficult task.

Adult Highlights

Of the few that were able to keep their focus and bowling skills in check, Tyler Price led in the series department with games of 259, 246 and 276 for a 781 in the TNT league at Thunderbird Lanes where his significant other, Amanda Price, put a 661 together on games of 224, 214 and 223.

A quick congrats to Amanda who recently rolled her 5th career perfect 300 game while bowling in the Oklahoma State Queens tournament.

Brant Hill flirted with perfection, rolling the first ten before coming up just a bit high in the eleventh, leaving and then sparing the 3-6 for a 288 game, sandwiched between games of 206 and 239 for a 733, reported Early Birds secretary Gary Sammons.

Chris Dickerson had a good week, posting 729 in the Suburban league on games of 214, 279 and 236 and then coming back the next day with a 702 in the Friday Nite Mixed Rollers that went 249, 194 and 259.

Dwight Blair led in the FNMR with 721 on games of 229, 226 and 266.

The Suburban league also reported a 717 by Chris Lowe (244-238-235), Joseph Langley with 713 (217-222-274), Jim Bomboy with 707 (247-224-236), and Andrea Halstead with the ladies high set of 676 on games of 211, 210 and 255, also the ladies high game of the week.

And lastly, Bob Carter led in senior league play with 704 on games of 247, 225 and 232 in the So-cialites at Thunderbird Lanes.

Youth Highlights

Peyton Smith zoned in and rolled 640 to lead in youth play, scoring 195, 230 and 215 for a 640 in the TBird Legends. High game honors went to Jake Croft who finished with a 257.

And leading in the U12 TBird HotShots eight year old Lee Perry put up a career high series of 521 on games of 197, 176 and 148, bowling off a 125 average.

No-Tap News

Lil Johnson and Marshall Miller bowled no-tap 300 games and were rewarded with first place in their respective division in the handicap portion of the senior 9-Pin No Tap Colorama at Thunderbird Lanes last Friday afternoon.

Johnson posted 233, 245 and 300 to win the ladies division with an 859 series with handicap.

There were only four ladies in Friday’s competition that allowed for only first place.

The men’s side paid three places with Miller coming out on top with an 830 on games of 224 and 225 in front of his no-tap 300.

Charles Norman finished in second with 802 and Sam Bowman rolled a 796 for third.

Scratch singles paid four spots with first going to Lil Johnson for a 778 followed by Bill Kaplan, 751, Marshall Miller, 749 and Mike McLester took the final place with 743.

Strike pot ticket winners were Bill Kaplan, Charles Norman, David Jones and Diane Frame and Lil Johnson was the only bowler to win a challenge shot, knocking down eight pins to match the Pill Draw.

Mystery Doubles winners were Sam Bowman/Herbert Scott, 573, Duane Hurwitz/Randy Travis, 570 and Lil Johnson/Eugene Augustine III, 645.

This event is held every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes; starting at 1 p.m. Bowlers must be at least 50 years old with a verifiable average to participate.
