Little Ponies 54th Annual Celebration

WHAT: Comanche Little Ponies 54th Annual Celebration. Free and public is welcome. All singers, dancers, princesses, clubs and organizations are invited.

Bring your own chairs. Food and Native American arts and crafts vendors.

No outside food sales permitted. Security on premises. No alcoholic beverages allowed. No political advertising or campaigning allowed.

Entire event will be livestreamed via Lonetipi Productions.

WHEN: Friday and Saturday.

WHERE: Comanche County Fairground, 920 S. Sheridan.

HEAD STAFF: Martin Flores, master of ceremonies; Kelly Cable, singer; Danny Niedo, gourd dancer; Madison Fixico, lady dancer; Asa Ace Samuels, war dancer; Charles Tahah and Travis Codynah, arena directors; Comanche Little Ponies Princess Graison Yellowfish, Comanche Nation Princess Bluesky Tosee and Comanche Nation Junior Princess Arlene Schonchin, special invitation.

PROGRAM: Friday – cedar ceremony and opening, 4 p.m.; gourd dance, 5 p.m.; song for Comanche Little Pony Princess, 7 p.m.; gourd dance resumes, 7:30 p.m.; program end, 10:30 p.m.

Saturday – gourd dance, noon; new member initiation, 2 p.m.; supper break, 5 p.m.; grand entry, 6 p.m.; host organization special and contest winner announcements, 11 p.m.

CONTESTS: Boys and girls tiny tots (combined), junior boys (combined) and junior girls (combined), women’s cloth, buckskin, jingle and applique; men’s grass, straight, traditional and fancy; women’s cloth special. Prizes include cash, jackets and star quilts for 18-and-older.
