Lawton High School is searching for a new head football coach after Ryan Breeze resigned after serving six years at the position.
Breeze accepted the job on Aug. 1, 2018, after his father Randy had stepped down after leading the Wolverines for 12 years. The younger Breeze served as the offensive coordinator for the Wolverines during his father’s tenure.
The Wolverines struggled this season as low numbers and a rash of injuries to starters including quarterback, middle linebacker and two key offensive linemen, forced LHS to move players around to fill the gaps. LHS qualified for the playoffs but lost in the first round to Sand Springs. Breeze led the Wolverines to four playoff berths during his six years at the helm.
Lawton Public Schools Human Resources posted the job Wednesday and applications will be accepted over the next few weeks. At that point LHS Principal Charles Kirchen and LHS Athletic Coordinator David Stanley will lead the process of reviewing the applicants followed by conducting interviews with the top candidates. After the search committee comes up with a possible replacement, LPS Superintendent Kevin Hime we take the candidate’s name to the Board of Education for final approval.
