Basketball season came to an abrupt end for all six Lawton Public Schools basketball teams as MacArthur girls and boys along with the Lawton High School boys were all beaten in consolation bracket games Saturday.
The LHS boys lost a tough 63-57 decision to Putnam City West Saturday at Edmond North High School. The Wolverines played their hearts out but lost in double overtime Friday to Moore to fall into the consolation bracket.
MacArthur girls, who hosted a 5A regional this week, had to go on the road to El Reno and wound up losing 62-58 against area rival Altus in a mild upset. Mac had lost a tough game to Shawnee Friday afternoon and were unable to get the victory Saturday to prolong its season.
MacArthur boys had won in consolation action Friday but lost to El Reno, 57-48, Saturday afternoon at the Indians’ Gym.
While it was a tough weekend for the Lawton teams, Elgin boys were able to advance to a 5A Area by taking a 53-49 victory over Oklahoma City Southeast Saturday evening.
However, the Elgin girls saw their season come to an end with a 60-42 setback against Del City.
