Lewd proposition, indecent exposure a teen’s ‘life lesson’ Duncan man claims

DUNCAN — A 61-year-old Duncan man is in jail for allegations he propositioned a 13-year-old girl and exposed himself to her.

Timothy Gordon Berry made his initial appearance Monday in Stephens County District Court where he received felony charges of lewd molestation and indecent exposure, records indicate.

Stephens County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshawna Boren received a report on Oct. 27 that the 13-year-old girl had told her middle school guidance counselor that Berry had asked her to touch him, the probable cause affidavit states. During a forensic interview, the girl said she’d smoked marijuana with Berry. She provided a note from Berry where he made inappropriate comments to the girl and propositioned her.

Berry was arrested on Nov. 2. He told investigators he’d been covered by a blanket when the girl caught him watching pornography on TV, Deputy Leslie Richardson stated. He admitted “he likes the thrill of the risk of getting caught,” the affidavit states. He said he never forced the girl to do anything.

During questioning, Berry admitted to offering the girl money for sex, Richardson stated. He said he was teaching the girl a “life lesson” about if you want something you have to be prepared to give something in return but denied coercing the girl into sexual activity, according to the affidavit.

Berry, who is held on $100,000 bond, returns to court at 9 a.m. Feb. 14, 2024, for his preliminary hearing conference.
