We almost made it a full series without a repeat winner in the Po-Boy event but Zach Leshikar would not have it and took his second title in the seventh event without too much difficulty.
Mikey York set the pace for this event with a 510 handicap total, thanks to a 245 rolled his second game of qualifying.
Leshikar, who had 256 and 251, came in with 507 (no handicap here), and with 9 sticks of handicap, Steve O’Harris went 237, 245 to round out the top three with 491.
The remaining top 16 included, Matt Ray, 483, Noel Gordon, 476, Rick Olson and Dave Yett, 470, DJ Pyfer, 467, CY Davis, 464, Robert Morin and James Halstead, 444, Jason Owen and Armour Brown, 443, Joseph Spires, 442 and Tony Faustner and Carter Croft both shot 441 to make the list.
A calculated toss of the ceremonial coin determined Croft against top seed York, Leshikar against Faustner, O’Harris against Spires and so on until the bracket in filled.
Croft beat York, 239-230, Leshikar beat Faustner, 232-212 and Spires beat O’Harris to advance to the round of eight.
The remaining matches showed Brown over Ray, 221-206 and Owen over Gordon after a 9th and 10th frame roll-off for a 221 tie.
Olson won against Halstead, 232-211, Morin beat Yett, 211-181, and Davis beat Pyfer, 214-212.
Davis went on to make it to the semis with a win over Croft, 222-199, Brown advanced over Owen, 176-165, Olson mowed over Spires, 205-165 and Leshikar made it by Morin, 213-203.
The final four seated Davis against Brown and Olson against Leshikar.
Davis got his win 202-192 and Leshikar got his 214-180 to set up for the final match.
Davis put up a 190 but Leshikar, a two hander up the left side, showed no mercy after finding a line that allowed for a 246 score to take his second Po-Boy title.
The eighth tournament of the series was held last night and next Monday, August 5th, will be the grand finale for the summer with an invitational open only to bowlers who participated in at least four of the eight Po-Boy events.
Competition is $25 per person and starts at 7 p.m. at Thunderbird Lanes. Please contact Richard Jacoby as soon as possible to reserve your entry into the finale.
