For the first time in 19 years of providing you bowling news and scores there will not be an honor roll this week as not a single league submitted scores.

The truth of the matter is, only a couple of leagues started up last week at Twin Oaks and Thunder-bird Lanes has rescheduled its league meeting and start dates until the new scoring system installa-tion is complete.

Seeing as there was no news, below is a list of leagues and other bowling activities slated for this summer at both centers.

You will notice a couple of no-tap formats as well as youth, adult and senior leagues meeting and bowling in the next week or so.

Also in this summer’s lineup is the ever popular Po-Boy series. Dates and times for this and other summer bowling are listed below.

League Info

Thunderbird Lanes, Lawton

Monday 1PM – Socialites, 9 pin no-tap format, seniors +50, 3 person teams, any combo. Meet June 3rd at 12:30PM bowl after.

Tuesday 6:30PM – Tuesday No-Tappers, 9 pin no-tap format, adults +18, 4 person team, any combo. Meet June 4th at 6:30PM bowl after.

Wednesday 1PM – Entertainers, senior +50, 4 person team, mixed. Meet June 5th at 12:30PM, bowl after.

Thursday 6:30PM – Rowdy Bunch, adult 18+, 4 person team, any combo. League has met and will start on June 6th. Space is available to add bowlers.

Friday 7PM – Guys and Dolls, adult 18+, 4 person team, any combo. Meet June 31st at 7PM, bowl after.

Twin Oaks Bowling Center, Fort Sill

Tuesday 6:30PM — Tuesday Night Trio, adult 18+, 3 person team, any combo. This league has met but is still accepting members.

Thursday 6:30PM – Adult Sports League, adult 18+, 2 person doubles, any combo. This league was scheduled to meet and start on May 16th but will still take new bowlers.

Thursday 9:20 a.m. – Thursday Morning 9 Pin No-Tap, senior 50+, 2 person doubles, any combo. This league has started but has room to add.

Youth Bowling

Youth league registration/signup will be June 1-7 at Thunderbird Lanes for youth bowlers age 3 – 18. The league is scheduled to start up at 10AM on June 8th.

Summer Tournaments

Thunderbird Lanes will continue to run the Friday afternoon senior no-tap color pin tournament every Friday afternoon starting at 1PM.

And coming June 10th, the first of a series of eight “Almost World Famous” Po-Boy Tournaments will begin.

This summer’s events will be held on Monday evenings starting at 7PM for the everyday low entry fee of just $25 per person.

Bowlers will roll two games of qualifying with the top 8 or 16, depending on the number of entries, advancing to the single elimination, high vs. low, bracket.

Handicap will be 80% of 210 off the highest ending 2023-24 average of 21 or more games. Bowlers without an average will enter as scratch for their first event.

This event is open to adult league bowlers only and you must bowl in four of the eight events to be eligible to participate in the Grand Finale.

Contact Richard Jacoby at Thunderbird Lanes for additional details.

Twin Oaks has a tournament scheduled for one Sunday every month, through the end of the year.

The next event will be a 9 Pin No-Tap on June 23rd at 1PM.

For additional information, contact Twin Oaks Bowling Center.

Honor Roll Criteria

That about sums it up for this week but for one last thing that I never get the opportunity to share but am asked quite often, “Why weren’t my scores in the paper?”

It’s like this, I cannot print what I don’t know so first, make certain that your league’s secretary is sending me the league backup each week so that your scores can be extracted and merged into the honor roll.

Next would be the criteria.

Many years ago we established what score would qualify to make the Honor Roll and though it’s not that easy for some to bust a certain mark, it is a goal and a guideline that we have to follow and it goes like this.

Adult male 235 game/650 series and Adult female 215 game/550 series and Senior +50 Male 225 game/625 series and Senior +50 Female 205 game/525 series.

And a few years ago, with the popularity of 9 pin no-tap scoring, we added a No-Tap Honor Roll with a little higher scoring required.

Adult Male 250 game/700 series, Senior +50 Male 235 game/650 series and Adult Female 225 game/625 series, Senior +50 Female 215 game/600 series.
