A Lawton woman was injured and a Del City man died in a Christmas Day traffic accident on Interstate 44 near Chickasha.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that Mason E. Jones, 23, Del City, had stopped his 2013 Dodge Avenger due to mechanical difficulties at 11 a.m. on the shoulder of the highway in the eastbound lane at mile marker 83.
A 2012 Infinity driven by Janice P. Bell, 85, Lawton, left the roadway to the right and struck the back of Jones’ vehicle. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bell was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by Chickasha EMS. She was listed in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
