A woman who police said was driving impaired is accused of leading police on a pursuit following a traffic stop that ended after she’d hit a bicyclist, a tree and she attempted to flee.
Chambree Donae Thompson, 32, of Mountain View, made her initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where she received felony charges of endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, as well as misdemeanor counts of obstructing police and driving under the influence, records indicate.
Lawton Police Officer Patrick Kilgore stated he conducted a traffic stop around 8:20 p.m. Feb. 9 of a Jeep Laredo for failing to stop at a sign. The driver, Thompson, said she’d left her license in her purse at home and provided a false name and date of birth, the probable cause affidavit states. Kilgore stated Thompson had watery eyes, droopy eyelids and low, raspy slurred speech.
Thompson put the Jeep into drive and sped off and while traveling eastbound on Cache Road struck a bicyclist and continued until she struck a tree on Northwest Williams Avenue near 17th Street, the affidavit states. She then tried to flee before being taken into custody, according to Kilgore.
After two breathalyzer tests turned up with a 0.00 blood alcohol content, Thompson was asked for a blood test and she agreed. However, once at the hospital, she refused the blood draw, according to the affidavit.
Held on $30,000 bond, Thompson returns to court at 3 p.m. April 30 for her preliminary hearing conference.
