A new Braum’s planned for North Sheridan Road will change a long-time “T” intersection traffic signal light into a full intersection control device.
Members of the City Planning Commission gave unanimous approval last week to construction plans that include off-site infrastructure needed for the Braum’s being built at 151 N. Sheridan Road, between Northwest Arlington and Northwest Lake avenues. Specific plans will modify what is now a three-way traffic light guiding traffic into and out of the retail shopping center on the west side of the road into a four-way light that also will help traffic enter and exit Braum’s.
The retail complex will stretch between the two residential streets, with the light to be designated where an alley used to exist until it was closed for the construction project. The site plan also includes access points to Arlington Avenue and Lake Avenue, with the building to be located on the east side of the tract and parking located along North Sheridan Road. A traffic turn lane also will be added for northbound traffic turning into the restaurant from the arterial, according to the site plans.
The recommendation now goes to the City Council for a final decision.
