Alzheimer’s is hard on a lot of people affected by the disease. But from 11-noon Friday at the Lawton Public Library, the Alzheimer’s Association will help other’s understand it a lot better with a free educational program.
According to a press release, Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that impacts memory, thinking and behavior. It’s important to understand the difference between Alzheimer’s and the normal forgetfulness that comes with age.
The release said others can gain knowledge about the impact the disease has on individuals and their families, key distinctions between Alzheimer’s and dementia, the stages of Alzheimer’s, potential risk factors, current research efforts, available treatments to manage symptoms and resources provided by the Alzheimer’s Association to support those affected.
The release said the program is ideal for anyone wanting to learn more about Alzheimer’s and dementia, gain knowledge to support their loved ones, and understand current research and available resources.
