You wake up late for work one morning and have 30 minutes to get dressed and out the door. Since your work is 10 minutes away, you rush to get ready, barely getting your coffee and breakfast. You hop on your bike, but to your horror, your seat fell off. One of the screws fell out. You don’t have time to fix it, so you call an Uber and hope for the best.
There’s an easy way to fix this and not run into this problem again.
The Lawton Public Library and The Patterson Center is hosting a Bicycle Repair Class from 5-6 p.m. Thursday at No. 4 NE Arlington Drive.
Participants are encouraged to bring their bicycles for practical demonstrations or to observe and ask questions, according to a press release. The class will be led by Dan Kite, a certified mechanic with extensive experience in bicycle repair.
Kite will cover essential topics such as tire repair, chain maintenance and brake adjustment, providing insights to help cyclists keep their bikes in top condition, the release said. Attendees also will have a chance to enter a giveaway for an adult or kid’s bike.
The event is made possible through the support of the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, utilizing federal funds under the Library Services & Technology Act and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
