Instead of being bored this summer, why not try learning valuable job skills by volunteering?
The Lawton Public Library is accepting applications for 2024 Summer Teen Volunteers through May 10.
According to a press release, teens will learn the value of customer service and get exposure to library resources. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting customers through Beanstack, shelving books, pulling holds and assisting with various tasks.
The release said teen volunteers are expected to work a minimum of four hours a week, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. They must be willing to dress appropriately and report to the library in a library T-shirt and name tag.
The release said applications can be picked up at either library location or downloaded from the library website. Positions are limited and will be filled on a first come basis, late applications will be placed on a waiting list.
Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview. Those selected will then be contacted by library staff the week of May 20 with more information. Completed applications can be returned to the library or emailed to [email protected].
