The Lawton Police Officer Association will host a golf scramble on Monday with proceeds going to youth sports around Lawton.
The event will be held at the Lawton Country Club starting at 9 a.m.
The tournament consists of 25 teams who were informed of the tournament through flyers posted in January. By mid-March all the registration spots had been filled.
Money raised from the event will go directly to youth sports around Lawton. The Eisenhower track team will be raising money for state championship rings.
Detective Brian James Val said, “We’re just trying to help out. Whether that’s gloves, jerseys, or even registration fees,” said
The Lawton Police Officer Association want to make this an annual event to continue providing for the youth in Lawton.
For competitors, there will be sponsored holes on the course as incentives. Crime Stoppers of Southwest Oklahoma will be sponsoring a $20 putt on hole 17, and Lawton Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram will also have a hole in one sponsorship for anyone who has what it takes to make it in one shot.
Val said that there will be door prizes for the teams and those will be given out at the end of the tournament. As well as goody bags for all participants, which will include a Lawton Police Officer Association challenge coin as a thank you to those who donated.
The registration to join a team for this year’s tournament filled up quick, but the Lawton Police Officer Association will be hosting an AM tournament and a PM tournament next year in order to let as many people join in and give back as possible.
