A 20-year-old Lawton man entered a blind guilty plea Tuesday to avoid trial for fentanyl trafficking.
Before jury selection could begin, Brandon Woods entered his guilty plea before Comanche County District Judge Scott D. Meaders to felony charges of aggravated fentanyl trafficking and obstructing police, records indicate.
Woods was arrested, along with his brother Cameron Woods, in May 2023 following a Lawton Police Special Operations Division operation where they arranged a purchase of 200 fentanyl pills from Cameron Woods from a home at 4001 NW Ozmun. He was seen getting into a black Dodge Charger and, according to the probable cause affidavit, he had a suspended license.
Cameron Woods fled an attempted traffic stop before ending the chase in the parking lot of Cache Road Square, 3801 Cache Road. The driver and his passenger, Brandon Woods, took off running and were taken into custody. A bag was recovered with 200 fentanyl pills and $2,058 was recovered from Cameron Woods, the affidavit states. A search warrant of the home was executed and another 298 pills were found at the home, along with $15,461 in cash and a stolen handgun, according to the affidavit.
Cameron Woods, 21, pleaded guilty on Feb. 6 to counts of aggravated fentanyl trafficking, endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police, maintaining a place for keeping/selling a controlled substance, acquiring proceeds from drug activity, knowingly receiving, concealing and/or withholding stolen property, obstructing police and driving without a valid license, records indicate. He is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. June 11.
Brandon Woods will be formally sentenced at 1 p.m. June 13.
