Lawton’s mass transit system will begin a new free-ride policy today, geared toward riders who have to deal with severely cold weather.
The Lawton Area Transit System (LATS) now will offer free transportation services on days when temperatures drop below freezing, with a wind chill. LATS officials said the new initiative is designed to ensure that all Lawton residents can access transportation, even when weather conditions are at their worst.
“Your safety matters to us,” said a LATS spokesperson. “When temperatures are dangerously low, we want to make sure everyone has access to the transportation they need without the added stress of fare costs. We’re here to help keep you safe, warm, and connected to the services you need.”
LATS officials encourage all residents to stay informed and take advantage of the free rides during challenging weather conditions. Additional information is available by calling the LATS administrative office at (580) 248-5252 or via the LATS website: www.ridelats.com.
