OKLAHOMA CITY— Oklahomans are familiar with the verse in the state song that includes “wind sweeping down the Plains” but Tuesday a new verse was added with wind sweeping down on the Big House and causing a delay in the final game of the eight-game Class A schedule.
It just happened that area power Cyril girls were involved in that game and those gusts that went as high as 68 miles an hour knocked out power around the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds and forced the Lady Pirates and Quinton to complete the game Wednesday afternoon between the boys and girls sessions of the Class B State Tournament.
Somewhere along the way the teams lost focus and with that their offensive consistency.
The power went out late Tuesday as the teams were playing in the second quarter but you wouldn’t know it by the score as the teams battled to a 10-all tie when they reached halftime Wednesday.
