The International Festival Committee has launched its 2025 International Festival Poster Design Competition.
Open to students in grades K-12 and adults of all skill levels, this competition invites artists to create the official publicity poster for the International Festival in September. The entry deadline is May 23.
Submissions should be an artistic representation celebrating the cultural richness of the Lawton-Fort Sill community, as highlighted by the International Festival. Artists are required to incorporate the festival’s logo of the “Festival Child” into their designs. Artists can find this logo on the International Festival page on SWOKarts.com.
Artwork also must include representations of flags, including the flags of the United States, Mexico, the Philippines and the Comanche Nation. These flags must be included as they are the flags of the founding members of the International Festival.
Guidelines for submissions are:
• Artwork must be two-dimensional and original, with 22-inch x 28-inch dimensions.
• Artwork may be matted white and shrink wrapped OR 18-inch x 24-inch art paper may be used and attached to a 22-inch x 28-inch white poster board.
• The “Festival Child” logo must be a featured design element.
• Flags, including those mentioned above, should be incorporated into the design.
• Each submission should clearly display the artist’s name, complete mailing address, phone number, school (if applicable) and current grade level on the back of the artwork and backing.
• Entries must be received by the deadline at the Arts & Humanities Office, located at 801 NW Ferris Ave. (west entrance of McMahon Auditorium). Artwork should be delivered flat, not folded or rolled.
Winners will be chosen from four divisions: kindergarten through grade 5, grades 6-8, grades 9-12 and adults. Each division winner will receive a $50 award. The overall competition winner chosen from the division winners will receive a $200 stipend, along with one festival T-shirt and one International Festival poster.
Written notification will be mailed to winners in June, and monetary awards will be presented during the International Festival Opening Ceremony on Sept. 26 or mailed after the festival for those who are unable to be present
Information is available at the Arts & Humanities Office, (580) 581-3470 or 581-3471.
