In-person absentee voting begins today for Ward 7 residents who want to cast early ballots in the Lawton City Council election.
Ward 7 voters are selecting a council representative for a new three-year term, choosing between incumbent Councilwoman Onreka Johnson and challenger Sherene L. Williams. The winner will be sworn into office in January.
Early ballots can be cast from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday at the Comanche County Election Board Office, located in the Comanche County Courthouse at Southwest 5th and C. Voters don’t have to provide a reason for voting early, but they will have to sign an affidavit stating they will not vote at their precincts on election day. Voters also must present photo identification or their voter registration card to receive a ballot.
While the Comanche County Courthouse is closed Friday for Veterans Day, voters still will be able to access the courthouse through its main entrance, Comanche County Election Board Secretary Amy Sims said.
Information is available at the Comanche County Election Board Office, 580-353-1880.
