In-person voting begins Thursday at the Comanche County Election Board and election boards across the state for qualified electors casting ballots in federal, state and county primary races.
In Comanche County, all but one race is restricted to registered Republican voters.
The lone Democratic race is for the U.S. Fourth Congressional seat, where Kody Macaulay and Mary Brannon are vying to become the Democratic nominee for the general election in November. Five candidates are vying on the Republican side for nomination to the Fourth District seat: Incumbent Tom Cole, Nick Hankins, Andrew Hayes, Paul L. Bondar and Rick Whitebear Harris.
Three Republicans also are running for Comanche County sheriff: Michael Merritt, Dell Galloway and Andy Moon.
In State Senate District 31, three Republicans are vying: Pamala McNall-Granier, Rick Wolfe and Spencer Kern.
In State House District 64, Republicans William Ratley will face incumbent Toni Hasenbeck.
In addition, three Republicans are facing each other for Corporation Commission: J. Brian Bingman, Russell Ray and Justin Hornback.
To cast ballots, residents must be registered voters and must present either photo identification or their voter’s registration card before receiving a ballot. Voters don’t have to give a reason for voting early, but must sign affidavits pledging they won’t cast ballots at their precincts on election day.
In-person absentee voting may be done from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Questions may be directed to the election board at 353-1880 or [email protected].
