In-person absentee voting begins today in the special Oklahoma Senate District 32 race between Democrat Larry Bush and Republican Dusty Deevers.
Qualified voters in Senate District 32 may cast in-person absentee ballots from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday at the Comanche County Election Board Office, located in the Comanche County Courthouse at Southwest 5th and Southwest C Avenue. Voters do not need to provide a reason for voting early, but they must sign an affidavit promising they will not cast ballots at their polling place on election day. Voters also must provide photo identification or their voter registration card to receive ballots.
Deevers and Bush were the candidates, in terms of ballots cast, in October’s primary election. Bush, of Lawton, bested opponent Johnny Jernigan to proceed to the Dec. 12 election, while Deevers, of Elgin, won the most votes in a four-way race that also included Jennifer Ellis, JJ Francais and Dr. Jean Hausheer.
The winner of Tuesday’s election is expected to be sworn into office in a ceremony tentatively set for Dec. 20, State Senate officials said in October.
Senate District 32 includes northern and western Comanche County, to include everything west of Post Oak Road. In Lawton, the district includes the area north of West Lee Boulevard to Southwest 38th Street, then north of Southwest F Avenue to Southwest 3rd Street.
